Today Owen is having a couple tests run in preparation for his surgery on the 7th of May.
Right now he's all snuggled up in a nuc med scan where they are checking the function level of his kidneys. They want to be sure that the right kidney is still working enough that it can be fixed vs just needing to remove it. Later today they will call us and let us know if his surgery will be to remove the block like we were hoping or if it will be to just take the kidney out. So for now, we wait.
Owen has been a champ though. He had to get another IV as well as a catheter. It was a lot harder now that he squirms and moves, but the nurses were amazing and got everything in as quickly as they could!
He also had an ultrasound of his spine this morning. They were concerned he may have a tethered spinal cord which would have needed surgery as well. Thankfully, his scan came back totally normal!! Such a huge relief!
Here are a couple pictures off my phone of today and I will update about surgery later when I find out what the test showed.
*on the very last picture you can see Owen's kidneys during the nuc med scan. He's actually laying upside down so the big kidney on the left is actually his right one. *

Thankful Heart!
Today was Owen's first day going to church! We are so blessed to have such an awesome church family! Everyone gave Owen such a warm welcome and made us all feel so loved! All week they have taken such good care of us whether it be by cooking for us or bringing sweet gifts by for Owen and the kids! We are so very blessed!
So many people have been sweet to include Ella and Noah by bringing them little gifts and surprises, too. It has really made them feel so special about being the big brother and sister!
Here are some pictures of them opening up some gifts from this morning :) some are a little blurry since I posted from y phone. Didn't feel like uploading off my regular camera ;)

We praise Him!
I was just sitting here snuggling our sweet little baby and it just seems so surreal that he is finally here and that everything's okay. It feels like an eternity that we've waited for him and prayed for him. Even months before he was born we prayed and prayed that God would give us a healthy pregnancy and were so nervous after the two that we lost. We are so blessed to have been given such a precious gift. He's so wonderful! Made me think of a song that we have just started doing recently at church called "We Praise Him". I thought I'd share it with you guys since it's very fitting for how we feel about Owen's birth and having him here in our family. It's a fun one that our kids like to sing and dance around to!
James 1:17 "Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.."

4 Days Old
I can't believe our little man has already been here four days! He is doing so great! We are loving his laid back personality. He's so easy going and just hangs out while the kids pretend he's their real live baby doll. He's been a little gassy so he sometimes gets fussy from that, but not nearly as bad as Noah was with reflux. I've been trying to catch up on sleep whenever I can. He likes to be awake at night, but each day he is staying awake more and more during the day so hopefully he will start sleeping a little better soon. Last night I got a couple three hour stretches which was awesome.
Randy spoke with his Urologist this afternoon and they are working on getting him in for both of the tests he needs this week. Once we have the tests, they will schedule surgery. Unless of course the issue has resolved, which would be amazing! He pees just fine for now though. It's kind of ironic really, the baby with kidney issues has managed to pee on us more than we ever got peed on with Ella and Noah combined. He's a quick one so you have to be on your toes!
Here are a couple "First Bath" pictures. It's technically his second bath, but since I let Ella and Noah help with the first one, there aren't many pictures where he's not screaming his head off. They were great helpers...but his bath this morning with mommy was much more peaceful and relaxing ;) He still was giving me some pretty dirty looks though!
Thanks for checking in on us! We are all doing great. Just soaking up every second with this precious little gift. We are so in love with our little Owen!
